Seth was first called to service when he joined the Marines in 2001, days after graduating from college and months before the attacks on 9/11. After returning home from Iraq, Seth earned joint degrees in Business and Public Policy at graduate school, and then worked in the private sector in Texas to build the country's first high speed rail line.

Seth was elected to Congress in 2014 and in the two terms since he was first sworn in, Seth has worked tirelessly to uphold his commitment to bipartisanship. As Vice Chair of the Budget Committee, Seth is focused on creating a new economic agenda that will make a difference for American families. He also sits on the House Armed Services Committee and it's subcommittees on Seapower and Projection Forces as well as Strategic Forces.

We are proud to welcome Secretary Ray LaHood to headline this webinar! Secretary LaHood led America into high speed rail during his term heading up the Department of Transportation, launching the new program and helping get the nation's first visionary high speed rail system going in California.

He served as United States Secretary of Transportation from 2009 until 2013. A Republican from Illinois, LaHood served previously as a Congressman represented Illinois's 18th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2009. He s
erved on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee from 1995 until 2000.

Following his time serving in Congress, he was appointed by President Obama to serve as the US Transportation Secretary, immediately launching the nation's first high speed rail national program and tirelessly advocating for high speed rail across America during his entire time in this role.

We are proud to welcome Brightline's President Patrick Goddard to headline this webinar! Patrick runs Brightline Trains, soon to be Virgin Trains USA, the first privately owned and operated intercity passenger rail system in over 100 years. Patrick was responsible for the company’s development and construction and bringing this innovative system to market. This includes approximately 1.5msq of Transit Oriented Development around the system’s stations.

Launched in 2018, Brightline is a transformative rail project connecting the cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. In May 2019, Phase 2 construction began connecting Orlando to South Florida and is slated for completion in 2022.

Brightline announced the acquisition of Express West in March 2019, a high-speed rail system connecting California and Nevada. Construction on this system is expected to begin in 2020.

Goddard comes from the hospitality industry having worked in hotel development and operations for Hilton Hotels, Loews Hotels and Rosewood Hotels. He also ran a large international hotel management company, Trust Hospitality, for 5 years as its President and Chief Operating Officer prior to joining Brightline in 2016.

He has a degree in hospitality management from the Dublin Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Strategic Management from Trinity College Dublin
